Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.
I get asked a lot about the things I use to build software, stay productive, or buy to fool myself into thinking I’m being productive when I’m really just procrastinating. Here’s a big list of all of my favorite stuff.
Workstation
13-inch, M1 Macbook Pro, 2020
Portable but powerful, the M1 Macbook Pro is the best laptop I’ve ever owned. I’m not sure I’ll ever go back to a PC. The touchbar is a bit unnecessary, but I’ve grown to like it.
Dell U2720QM 27inch 4K Monitor/VESA DisplayHDR™ 400
With a 4K resolution and 400 nits of brightness, this monitor is a joy to work on. I’ve had it for a while and it’s still going strong; great for its price.
Logicool Webcam Full HD 1080P 60FPS
I’m not sure why I got this webcam, but it’s been a great tool to have for video calls.
HyperX QuadCast S Microphone
I’ve been using this microphone for a while now and it’s been a joy to use. It’s a bit pricey but it’s worth it.
Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed
This mouse is a bit of a downgrade from my previous mouse, but it’s a lot more portable and I’ve been enjoying it.
Development tools
VS Code
VS Code is my editor of choice. I’ve tried a lot of different ones over the years but I always come back to VS Code. It’s fast, extensible, and has a great community.
Hyper
The best, most extensible and fastest terminal I’ve ever used.
Vercel
Vercel is the best deployment and workflow platform I’ve ever used. It’s fast, it has a great community, and it’s easy to use.
Design
Figma
I love Figma for its simplicity and ease of use. It’s a great tool for designing and prototyping.
Productivity
Raycast
Raycast is a great tool for quickly launching apps, searching the web, and doing other things.
Streamdeck
I use my Streamdeck to quickly launch apps, search the web, and do other things as well, combined with Raycast it’s got superpowers.
Motion
Great tool for scheduling tasks while protecting my calendar and making sure I still have lots of time for deep work during the week.
Notion
I use Notion for everything. I use it to keep track of my tasks, my calendar, my notes, and more.
